Premier Cho Jung-tai attended the opening of the National Science and Technology Council-affiliated Tainan AI Innovation Building March 28 in the Shalun Smart Green Energy Science City (SSGESC).

Cho noted that the building integrates with the Southern Taiwan Science Park to create potential output value of NT$ 2.2 trillion (US$68.5 billion) and 35,000 job opportunities. He stated that the NSTC, in collaboration with other ministries, envisages four measures to support enterprises at the SSGESC.

The NSTC will offer discounted rent and assist with incorporation of hard- and software through two initiatives: the Taiwan Smart System Integration and Manufacturing Platform and the Intelligent Rainforest Industrial Revitalization Program. It will further provide businesses with low cost sovereign AI and resources, as well as optimize the Shalun transportation network and implement smart grid and other energy infrastructure.

The NSTC will set up an office at the AI innovation building and the government will coordinate land use, personnel training and ensure provision of utilities for the SSGESC. (POC-E)
